Dates and Procedures

Registration and bookings

Step 1 Trainee registers for nMRCGP

Registration will be via the College website from Monday 30 July 2007 using a link available from the home page. Trainees should be ready to pay a registration fee (depending on year of study), ideally using a credit card. They will quote their GMC number and give their training Deanery. Since they will be able to join the College as an Associate in Training (AiT), direct debit details should also be available. Those who are currently Associate Members should chose 'Upgrade for Existing AiT' option, which allows registration at no further cost.

Step 2 Trainee, Trainer and Educational Supervisor receive logins

To allow for the registration process to take place and for the College to collect information from Deaneries, the ePortfolios will not be switched on until mid-August. The Educational Supervisor and Trainer, if known to us, will receive their login names and passwords at the same time.

Step 3 Check the ePortfolio

Some personal information and post details will be present in the ePortfolio and this should be checked immediately. Trainees will be able to change personal details within the ePortfolio using a link with the College's membership department. Educational Supervisors and Trainers can change these items directly within the ePortfolio. The Deanery should be contacted for matters concerning training posts.

Step 4 Use the ePortfolio

Version 1 of the ePortfolio was released at the end of August. Some functions will remain inactive until version 2 is released towards the end of the year. All users will be able to use the internal messaging system. Trainees will be able to record a wide range of learning experiences and use their Personal Development Plan. Educational Supervisors and Trainers can complete any of the workplace-based assessments.

Step 5 Apply for CSA

The first Clinical Skills Assessment will run for one, two or three weeks, depending on demand, with the first sitting in October 2007. Trainees will be able to apply and pay for CSA using the ePortfolio or College website from 1 August. The bookings screen will allow them to choose from morning or afternoon slots on a few days. As one slot becomes full, more slots will become available. In 2008 the CSA will be held in February, May and October.

Step 6 Apply for AKT

Dates for booking the AKT can be found here. Candidates will receive a booking confirmation email giving further details. They will be able to call Pearson VUE, using the special telephone number provided, to reserve a place at the venue of their choice (there are 152 to choose from!). In 2008 the AKT will be held on 30 January, 7 May and 29 October.
